If you are serious about your acting career then you should know that an acting resume must follow a particular format, very much like that of a modeling resume. Below are some guidelines to follow that will help you to develop a highly effective acting resume format.

  • Include your contact information at the top of the page. Make sure that this information is current and ensure that you have your answering machine or voicemail working so that you can receive messages from agents and casting directors. You don’t want to miss their calls, because they honestly or they might not call you back.
  • List all of your experiences in theater, film, television, and even commercials. Your most important professional experiences, or those that you think warrant the most attention, should be listed first.
  • Another section you can include is for Training and Awards. You should list any professional trainings and workshops you have attended as well as any awards that you have received.
  • The last section is your Special Skills section, where you should list all of the special skills that you possess which might be useful in your profession.

When you are done, print your resume on an 8 x 10 piece of paper and attached it to the back of your headshot. Remember, you should never add false information to your resume to try and make yourself look good. Lying on your resume could do serious harm to your reputation, and you simply can’t afford to have that happen early in your career.

Also, be sure not to make your acting resume too long. It should not be more than two pages. It should be short and precise, and very easy to read. Follow all of these guidelines and you will have no trouble making a clean, professional, and effective acting resume that will help to showcase your skill and experience as an actor.
