The first dog kennel was probably used in about 5000 BC by the Egyptians and they have become increasingly popular ever since. There are three main benefits to acquiring a kennel for your dog which we are going to discuss here.
Security blanket
By far the most important benefit is that it will become more than just a kennel, it will be a true dog home. In the wild dogs live in dens which provide shelter from the elements and predators. By introducing your dog to a dog home you will be re-creating a den. This will become a place where he feels secure and relaxed, allowing him to sleep or rest in a stress free environment. The kennel will also help to reduce separation anxiety when you are out as it is a place where he knows that he is protected.
Safety
Outdoor kennels are a great way to keep your dog safe while allowing him space to exercise. The dog cage style of kennel is made of metal and is much larger than a traditional wooden dog kennel. Your dog will be able to play and even run a short distance but won’t be able to escape onto nearby roads where he could be killed by passing traffic.
Another safety use is a kennel cage for the back of a car. This way you can transport your pet from place to place without worrying that, should you be unlucky enough to be in an accident, he would be thrown across the vehicle.
Aid to house training
When you first buy a new puppy you will want to house train him as soon as possible. Because dogs, by their very nature, will try their best not to soil their sleeping and living area, if you keep him in a kennel with attached puppy pen he will try and hold on until you take him outside to do his business.
