Benefits Of A Golf Vacation

Taking a golf vacation is a great way to kill two recreational birds with one travel stone. If you combine your golf weekend or getaway with a trip to another country or part of the world, you get a chance to play a great course (or courses), and still travel and experience new places, food, activities, people, and culture.

There are numerous islands in the Caribbean and Mediterranean that have golf resorts and dozens of other great activities. Why not make the most of your golf vacation by visiting someplace you’ve always wanted to go at the same time?

A good golf vacation is just a short plane ride away, no matter where in the United States you live. In the summer months, you can play gorgeous wooded courses everywhere from Wisconsin to the East Coast to the Pacific Northwest. Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, and of course Florida and Hawaii boast sunny courses year round.

These courses, found just about anywhere, make it easy to take a weekend off to head out and play, or a whole week for a full length vacation. Whatever suits your budget and time constraints, you can find on a golf vacation in the U.S.

Some of the best places to take a golf vacation are also private golf clubs, which are usually members-only for admission. A good example would be the courses in and around Martha’s Vineyard. But a little known fact is that, especially during economic downturns, those clubs are open to letting visitors in, if you know how to do it.

Your best bet to play a private club is to go during their off-season, especially the off-days of the week, like a Tuesday in the fall. Get in touch to ask if they allow exceptions; it doesn’t hurt to ask.
